A searchable database of SEC Forms 3, 4 and 5 for researching reported insider ownership and transactions.

What it is

InsiderFilings.info structures public ownership filings published through the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's EDGAR system. The site covers Forms 3, 4 and 5 and provides searchable filing, reporting-owner and transaction data. It is intended to make the underlying disclosures easier to inspect without replacing the original SEC filing.

Why I built it

Insider filings contain more than simple “buy” and “sell” events. They can also report grants, option exercises, gifts, tax-related dispositions and other changes in beneficial ownership. A useful research interface therefore needs to preserve that context rather than reduce every reported transaction to a single headline number. The project focuses on transparent classification and on keeping the path back to the source filing visible.

What users can do

Users can search and browse SEC ownership filings, inspect open-market purchases and sales, review ownership changes and reporting-owner roles, and follow filing context including footnotes. The wider site also provides company and industry views, research and methodology pages, and data-access options such as CSV, RSS and a controlled API.

Who it is for

The project is primarily for investors, researchers, analysts and developers who work with SEC insider-filing data and want a transparent, auditable view of the reported transactions. The source filings remain the authoritative record.
